We met at UMKC Law, through our mutual friend, Taylor. Spencer sat next to Sammi all of the first semester in their Property class, but not because we knew each other - he was late and the seat was open. Outside of class, we studied together with Taylor and saw each other at law school events and Taylor's parties, but we didn't really get to know each other until the following fall semester.

In October of 2022, we met a group of mutual friends out for dinner and drinks and we, again, sat next to each other because the seats were open, but this time we didn't stop talking all night. To those around the table, it was obvious that we would always save a seat for the other after that.

Our first date was after class and homework on the Plaza at Brio Italian Grille. Sammi tried to pay but Spencer was a stubborn gentleman. He set an expensive precedent for many a date night after that.

On another group night with Taylor and Joe to see Kevin Hart in downtown KC, we made it "official" and started dating November 4, 2022.

Since then, we have had several weekend trips away visiting places from Eureka Springs, Arkansas and Springfield, Missouri to Des Moines, Iowa and Sioux Falls, South Dakota. We also took more extended trips to Puerto Vallarta, Mexico and Sammi's home state, West Virginia. In between, we love going out to new restaurants, seeing movies, and exploring anywhere Sammi can see animals. At home, we play lots of games and find fun TV shows to watch with plenty of popcorn.

In May of 2024, we moved in together in our dream apartment complex. We studied for the Bar Exam all summer until we took our post-exam trip to Norway. The 10 days cruising Norway in August was the experience of a lifetime and we plan to go back to see even more.

Spencer proposed on September 21, 2024, at what will be our wedding venue on January 17, 2026. By then, we had both started our jobs at law firms right across the street from one another and were well settled into our apartment, excited our next chapter was beginning.

We are so thankful for the role each of you has played in our lives up to this point and we are elated to spend our wedding day with you all, celebrating our new life together.
